How To Walk In The Light

The Truth About Jesus

Stay Teachable

The Attraction of Jesus: Merciful King, Jesus' Way, Not Ours
Jesus is attractive not because He rules with the kind of power the world understands, but because He is a merciful King. In Matthew 18:21–35, Peter asks how many times he should forgive someone who sins against him. Jesus answers—not with a small number, but with a call to forgive without keeping score.
The Attraction of Jesus: Sow Kingdom Seeds
Key Reflection When Jesus spoke from the boat to the crowds along the shore, He revealed the generous, unrestrained nature of God's Kingdom. A sower doesn't hoard seed for only the safest patches of land; the sower scatters it abundantly, trusting the potential of the growth to come.
Attraction of Jesus: Kingdom Growth to the End
Jesus taught that the Kingdom of God often begins in ways that seem small and unnoticed, like a mustard seed or yeast mixed into dough. Yet its influence continues to grow until it transforms everything it touches. The Kingdom is of such great worth that it is worth giving up everything to possess it. As God's Kingdom expands throughout history, people are called to respond—either by embracing its priceless treasure or rejecting it. In the end, God will separate the righteous from the wicked, reminding us that every person must make an eternal decision about Christ and His Kingdom. Key Thought: The Kingdom of God may begin quietly, but its value is immeasurable, its growth is unstoppable, and its final victory is certain.
The Attraction of Jesus: The Perfect Ending
In the Parable of the Wheat and the Tares (Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43), Jesus addresses the troubling reality of evil coexisting alongside good in the world. Rather than uprooting the weeds immediately and risking damage to the wheat, the Master calls for patience, allowing both to grow until the harvest. The ultimate resolution rests in God's perfect timing, when evil will be finally removed and the righteous will "shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father". The true attraction of Jesus lies in His boundless grace and patience in the present, combined with the promise of a glorious, perfectly just ending for all who belong to Him.
Hope for the Hopeless: Hidden Seeds of Hope
God surprises us with hidden seeds of hope in unexpected ways. This is God's way. When things look hopeless and down, don't forget this truth: there are hidden seeds of hope all around us. As Christians, we are not only the recipients of these seeds of hope, but we are also the givers of God's seeds of hope.
